Wapiti Group
The Wapiti Mining Project encompasses an area of approximately 78 km² in the Northeastern British Columbia, 70km southeast of Tumbler Ridge in the Peace River Regional District. Mining is the largest employer in the region and contributes up to half of the current employment in the town.
Canadian Phosphate Limited has owned the Wapiti tenures since 2012 and have completed exploration resulting in an historic JORC Mineral Resource Estimate of 1.54mt inferred and indicated resources to 30m depth at 21.6% P₂O₅. Recently, new advancements in processing and mining technology, as well as the designation of Phosphate as a critical mineral and focus on food security in Canada, have allowed the consideration of the Wapiti project on a larger scale.
Wapiti
The Wapiti Project is the current focus of a multi-year area based exploration permit application with the Ministry of Mining and Critical Minerals in order to advance the geological confidence of the deposit and update the mineral resource estimate. Once this has been completed, the intention is to progress the project to a Preliminary Economic Assessment with a view to an extractive operation.
